Part of taking care of your body and mind is to allow yourself to take a break from your had work on a regular bases. This gives you the ability to recharge the batteries, to reflect on what you have accomplished, and avoid burning out. With some rare exceptions, most successful people take regular vacations to charge their batteries. It may seem counterintuitive but it ultimately allows you to return to your work with a renewed energy, more focus, and greater efficiency. Giving yourself a quick pat on the back and some regular rest and relaxation (at least once per quarter) can provide you with the motivation and thrill to roll the sleeves back up and get after it upon your return. In truth, regular vacations lead to more productivity. I notice with myself it provides me with a sense of freedom and energy that I wouldn’t have had otherwise. There is something about exploring this earth that motivates me to work harder and think more creatively. Your next vacation does not need to be extravagant – it can be simple like camping or a day hike to start. Whatever it is, make taking time a way from your work a regular part of your life. You will return with greater clarity of purpose and a renewed energy to maximize results.
