Make Time. Slow Down. Show Up.

Set time aside at the same time and place everyday to reflect on your mission and be alone with God. Reflect on where He is taking you. Life seems to go a million miles an hour at times. We can be pulled in several directions, many of which are not even aligned with where we are supposed to be. We can’t be who God is calling us to be if we are burning the candle at both ends. How do we avoid burning out?

Decide on a time and place. If we don’t set a daily time and place to be alone and reflect it won’t happen. This will allow us to keep the healthy habit of carving out time to slow down and reflect. I try to do this every morning starting at 6:45 at the same spot on the couch. My book and journal are waiting for me there when I wake up. Seven days a week. This is one of my favorite times of the day.

Embrace the fact that you are human, you have limits, and cannot do it all. Remember that you are not alone and God is in control. You cannot be all things to all people. Knowing your limitations, what’s the one thing you can focus on to make steps toward your mission?

Listen for God’s guidance and direction. Sit in silence. Our being alone with Him fuels our participation in His mission. Slow down, soften up, and show up.

Keep showing up. Make this time a daily habit. The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod is a great place to start. He teaches SAVERS – setting time each day for silence, affirmations, visualization, exercise, reading, and scribing (journaling).

Be encouraged! The Lord is listening and speaks to us. He is for you and will guide you to where you are supposed to be.

Set regular time with Him. He sees you, He hears you, and He will show you where you need to be.
